A wind and rain storm increasing in intensity throughout the day could cause flooding and power outages in Maine.

More than 60,000 Versant customers and 20,000 CMP customers are in the dark this morning.

National Weather Service reported amounts for the latest storm.

The National Weather Service says there is a ‘significant threat for power outages’ along the coast and just inland.

For the most part, downhill resorts can use manmade snow to counter natural shortcomings. But not all slopes have the equipment.

An overnight storm could bring between 1 and 3 inches of snow to some parts of Maine, and is likely to impact commutes Tuesday morning.

Strong winds Wednesday could lead to outages. Heavy rain and quickly melting snow could lead to flooding.

The National Weather Service said heavy rain and snowmelt Wednesday could cause flooding in central Maine.

The rain and snow are expected to taper off throughout the morning.

The announcement of the 11 a.m. opening came ahead of a storm that could bring snow, sleet and ice to the state’s roads overnight into Thursday.
