Back to school an adjustment for teachers, students around state

Teachers and administrators are thinking outside the box, while students are making the best of learning amid a pandemic.

On Tuesday, four had tested positive at the ND paper mill in Rumford for the coronavirus, and 12 more were added Thursday.

The project, which will include a picnic table area, a larger parking lot and green space, is expected to be completed this fall.

A student at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford has tested positive, according to Superintendent Deb Alden.

With schools in Dixfield and Peru, Regional School Unit 56 will extend its school closure to 14 days, reopening Sept. 29.

As a precaution, all of the mill’s employees are being tested for the coronavirus.

Tools, equipment and dried lumber were lost in the blaze, but alpacas raised on the property were uninjured.

This year’s fundraiser will be unlike previous years’ events as Connie Venskus treks the streets of Rumford, instead of Boston.

Because of the confirmed cases and possible exposure, students will be taught remotely for three days while the schools are disinfected.

Dinner and dance in February will mark town’s incorporation in 1821.
