RUMFORD — The Greater Rumford Community Center will offer lacrosse this spring at the middle school level.

There will be an informational meeting today at 5:30 p.m. at the GRCC. The first games for this new team start Saturday, May 3.

With the help of the U.S. Lacrosse Association and coach Rick White, the GRCC received a grant to bring this sport to middle school children, White said Tuesday in a news release.

It will not interfer with middle school sports. Practices will be held after middle school sports. Games will be played on weekends.

For more information contact the GRCC to sign-up or coach Whte at 364-3851. The lacrosse team coach will be Jeff Gilbert. The high school players and coach White will assist, as well.

“It should be a lot of fun for all the kids,” White said. “The fastest sport on two feet comes to GRCC. Try to catch the action.”
