WILTON — A local woman was charged Saturday with choking a pregnant woman and pushing her down porch stairs.
Aree S. Farrington, 66, of Wilton, was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault at her residence in Wilton, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Tuesday.
Wilcox and officer Gary Allen responded to a 911 report of an assault at about 6 p.m. Initially there was a verbal argument between the two women who knew each other, Wilcox said.
Allegations were made that Farrington choked the pregnant woman and pushed her down two to three stairs, she said. The incident occurred at Farrington’s residence.
A family member took the pregnant woman to the emergency room to be checked.
Farrington was taken to the Franklin County jail in Farmington. A judge set her bail at personal recognizance on Tuesday.
A conviction on the felony charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
