My vote for this season’s Phlegmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Attack Ads goes to the “”tell Jean Shaheen she’s made history”” epic, with the scroll of previous governors in the background and stooges sound effects.

Very clever.

Honorable mention goes to the Carter “”Ba-da-bing”” beauty for its sheer audacity. All nominees should take great pride in their productivity.

Sadly, this season has drawn to a close, and we must bottle our enthusiasm for more than a year until the next generation of Phlegmy candidates reemerges from the sewer to once again tickle our funny bones and pique our interest.

Gag me with a shovel.

This disinterested, disenfranchised observer is quite sure this is not what the Founding Fathers had in mind. In fairness to them, they could not have foreseen the effects of too many people with too few resources, and the insidious instantaneous mass media under global control of a handful of people.

Logic dictates that a solution would require wiping the slate clean and starting over, as in 1776.

Restart the Revolution?
