A few weeks ago, a letter from Joe Paradis of Post 22 American Legion mentioned that the Post needs a place to continue the work of the American Legion in this area, hold regular bi-monthly meetings and help support local veterans of all wars.
The former building on Bates Street was too costly to maintain, had limited parking and was not handicap friendly.
The old Legion home was a great place for veterans to drop in and chat for awhile. For some of them it was the only place where they could chat with other veterans.
So, I hope that the people who read the letter talk about it and keep the goal alive. Maybe someday some generous soul will come through for the veterans.
