LEWISTON – Registration began this week for the Lewiston Recreation Department Youth Lacrosse Program. Sign-ups will be taken all week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the LRD office at 65 Central Ave.

An informational meeting for parents will take place Monday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at the LRD.

Eligible are youngsters from Lewiston, Auburn, and surrounding towns. No prior knowledge of the sport is required. Introduction and training will be provided.

The program will consist of three groups, as follows: Division I, two teams of 7th-8th-grade boys and one team of 7th-8th-grade girls; Division II, three or four teams of 5th-6th-grade boys, and teams consisting of girls in grades 5-8; and Division III, boys and girls in grades 3-4.

Coach Dave Haefele of Bates College will serve as director of the program. Participating coaches will include Zack Stewart, Tony Burgess and Mark Rodrigue.
