Maine’s budget deficit is dominating our news, with no good solutions being offered.

Maine has approximately 1,275,000 people and more legislators than California, which has 35 million people. Why is this?

Kentucky is close to the same size as Maine in square miles and has about 4,065,556 people to pay its bills, where Maine has only 1,275,000 to pay its bills.

We need more industry with better paying jobs to attract people and increase our population to help widen our tax base.

Many people are leaving our state because they can’t make a living here. We are losing much of what industry we have because of Workers Compensation, insurance, high property taxes and transportation costs.

The price of oil is a big factor in Maine and the rest of the country. The oil companies are strangling our economy.

Everything we use or eat depends on oil to either make or transport it. We have more oil in our own country than we need, but our government won’t admit it. Oil companies have been selling oil out of Alaska for years, and oil strikes in the Gulf are huge. Our government does not admit this. Since the oil prices have gone up, so has everything else.

Mexico is greatly in debt to us and has oil much closer to us. It would pose minimal problems for us to access it.

It would help Mexico bring down its debt and bring down our cost of oil.
