LEWISTON — The Lenten Lecture Series will continue Wednesday, April 2, with a talk by Michael Tyne, third-year seminarian, at St. Joseph’s Church Parish Hall.

Tyne is on pastoral assignment at St. Joseph’s. He grew up on Nicatous Lake, an unorganized territory north of Bangor, where his family runs hunting and fishing camps. Before entering the seminary he was a high school teacher and coach, then an English instructor at the University of Maine in Orono.

The talk will follow the noon Mass, and a lunch will be served. All are welcome.

Rabies clinic

DURHAM — A rabies clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 5, at the Durham Fire Station, Route 9. Cost is $10 a shot. It is sponsored by the Durham Fire Auxiliary.

Wallace Wives

LEWISTON — The 4th Degree Wives of the Wallace Assembly Council will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the KC Hall. County Commissioner Patience Johnson will speak on the duties of a commissioner. Light refreshments will be available.

Widows to meet

LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet Monday, April 7, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. A social time will be held at 11:30 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch at noon. All interested widows in the area are invited.

Fortier Section

LEWISTON — Section Dr. Paul Fortier 52, Association Americaine Canado, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 7, at the Multi-Purpose Center Seniors Room, Birch Street.

A light lunch will be served and door prizes and 50/50 will be drawn. All members are invited.

Election of delegates to the convention in Nashua, N.H., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the center.

AUBURN — Auburn AC Serve will hold its alternate registration date from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, for the April 26 distribution at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance. Registration for May will also be taken.

Lunch lecture

LEWISTON — The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon lecture series program for Tuesday, April 8, at L/A College will present Robert Bowyer, who will discuss “Lexington and Concord — What You Didn’t Learn in school.”

His talk will review patriotic legends and examine in greater detail the events and strategies of the British and the colonists about the events of April 19, 1775, the first Patriot’s Day.

Bowyer lived in Lexington for many years prior to moving to Auburn and was the town’s planning director. He is a descendant of the Minutemen from Sudbury, Mass., who fought in Lexington on that historic day.

Legion meeting

LEWISTON — American Legion Post 210 will meet at the home of the commander, 69 East Ave., at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8. The agenda will include nomination of officers, convention 2003 and announcement of a new meeting place.

The post will have representatives at the Auburn Mall on Saturday, April 19, when donations for personal items for the troops will be accepted. For more information call 784-8563 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Rosary Sodality

LEWISTON — The Rosary Sodality will meet on Tuesday, April 8, for recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. in St. Patrick’s Chapel. A meeting will follow in Msgr. Gleason Hall when plans will be made for the annual card party on Tuesday, April 22.

Speaker will be Kelley Bouchard, a Lewiston native and staff writer for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. She will discuss her coverage of Lewiston’s Somali community.

Coffee and dessert will be served by Pat Berube and her committee.
