LIVERMORE FALLS – Challenged Monday night by new Selectman Doreen Buckley, several dissatisfied residents agreed to form a Budget Committee to review the 2003-04 proposals.

“We have to work together, we all have to be on the same team,” Buckley told the group that filled the meeting room.

“Our feet have been put to the fire all night. We’ve been called everything tonight. Do we have to be the bad guys?” she asked the residents who spent 90 minutes blaming and criticizing the board’s solutions for cutting expenses to keep the tax rate down.

Buckley then suggested that former Selectman Bernal Lake, who has been an outspoken critic of the board since he resigned in January, chair the committee.

Agreeing to work with him were Russell Flagg and Peter Riordan, both candidates for selectmen’s positions in June, former town manager Maxine Bailey and Allie Bond, father of a town employee.

Anyone else interested in serving on this committee, the first the town has had for several years, should contact the Town Office.
