BRUNSWICK — Gov. John Baldacci will be the keynote speaker at the Habitat Youth United Initiative at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in Smith Auditorium, Bowdoin College. The event is sponsored by the Bath/Brunswick Area affiliate of Habitat for Humanity.

The goal of Youth United is to promote greater involvement with Habitat for Humanity. Youths age 5 to 25 will be recruited to better understand Habitat’s mission and to participate in its work in the community. The ultimate aim will be for youths to sponsor and build a Habitat home, according to a spokesman.

Mentoring adults would work with the youths so that they learn teamwork, leadership and construction skills. Habitat is recruiting for the program, so if people are interested, they can call 729-0311.
