1942 – 2003

LEWISTON – Capitola R. Goss, 60, of Mechanic Falls, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, April 7, at d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Lewiston May 23, 1942, the daughter of Julian and Dorothy Goss. She attended schools in Mechanic Falls and Glen Cove Christian Academy. She worked at Tripp Lake Girls Camp and in the kitchen at Poland Community School until her health wouldn’t allow her to continue working. She was an active member of the Pleasant Street Baptist Church in Mechanic Falls.

She was a deaconess and loved singing her praise in the choir. She was a member of the Golden Ages Group and the Oxford Homemakers Extension. She enjoyed planning cookouts for her family and church family at the lake. “Cappy” resided the last year and a half at Bucknam Oaks in Mechanic Falls and enjoyed having her own apartment.

She took great pleasure in helping others by providing transportation and being a support person. She loved her cat “Happy.”

She is survived by two sisters, Joyce Goss of South Paris and Harriet Strout and her husband Clayton of Poland; a sister-in-law, Jeannette “Susie” Goss of Poland; three nieces, Jennifer Strout, Lisa Ferland and Traci Goss; a nephew, Jonathan Strout; and a great-nephew, Trent Robert Ferland.

She was predeceased by her mother; her father; and a brother, Robert Goss.
