GREENWOOD – Law enforcement officials snagged a cache of weapons and a pound of marijuana in a pre-dawn raid Monday at the Peter A. Gordon residence.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency coordinated the raid and was assisted by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department, Maine State Police and the Rumford Police Department.

Gordon, 42, of 97 Rabbit Lane was charged with unlawful possession of firearms by a prohibited person, because he is a convicted felon, and aggravated trafficking in marijuana. That offense was aggravated because Gordon had been convicted in 1986 of trafficking in cocaine.

According to Special Agent Supervisor Gerry L. Baril, due to suspected presence of firearms and prior incidents with area law enforcement officers, the MSP Tactical Team was used to enter Gordon’s house. He said the search warrant was executed without incident at 4:30 a.m.

According to the MDEA report, a search of the house revealed one pound of processed marijuana, digital scales, and an assortment of prescription pills, a loaded .44 caliber revolver and two unloaded rifles.

More than 40 firearms and ammunition were found in a camper behind the house. A vacant mobile home in front of the house had been converted to dry marijuana.

Gordon was booked at the Oxford County Jail in Paris. Bail was set at $5,000 surety or $500 cash.
