LEWISTON – Rita Dube, executive director of the Franco-American Heritage Center, announces that Congressman Michael Michaud has joined the board of directors.
“We are truly honored to have Congressman Michael Michaud as a member of the board of directors of the Franco-American Heritage Center,” Dube said, “We also feel great pride in knowing that the first Franco-American from Maine to ever be elected to Congress is a part of our team.”
“I am extremely proud of my heritage. I want to do all I can to save my cultural heritage and language of my ancestors. I want others to know of our contributions to Maine and that is why I am pleased to be a member of the Franco-American Heritage Center board of directors.” Michaud said.
Michaud was presented a Franco-American flag that he will take with him to his Washington office as a symbol of commitment to Franco-Americans and to the state.
The Franco-American Heritage Center is a nonprofit community organization that is acting to restore the landmark former St. Mary’s church, and create a performancee hall, heritage museum and learning center for the preservation of Franco-American culture.
“It is a privilege to have the congressman working with us and helping us make the Franco-American Heritage Center a reality and providing this area with a truly valuable community asset,” Dube said.
