PARIS – A Maundy Thursday communion service will be held at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17. Shirley S. Miller will lead the service with music by church organist Forest Perkins.

Silver Moore-Leamon will speak on “The Empty Tomb” at the 10 a.m. Easter service at the church. Music will be by organist Forest Perkins and flutist Renee Wales. Sunday school will be during the worship hour and child care is provided. Coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall.

Waterford church

WATERFORD – A Maundy Thursday Service of Tenebrae and Holy Communion will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at the Waterford Congregational Church. The public is invited. There will be an Easter sunrise service at Keoka Lake Town Beach on Routes 35 and 37 at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, April 20. The service will be led by Pastor Anita White and Pastor George Frobig of the North Waterford and Stoneham Cogregational Churches.

Breakfast will be served at the Stoneham Congregational Church following the sunrise service. White will lead the 9:30 a.m. Easter Sunday service at the church on Plummer Hill Road in Waterford Village. A special Easter cantata will be sung by the choir. All are invited.

Mountain service

NEWRY -An interdenominational Easter sunrise service will take place at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 20, at the top of Barker Mountain at the Sunday River Resort. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Don Coverdale with special music by Cynthia Libby. Chairlift no. 1 will be in operation from 6:30 a.m. For more information, contact the Sunday River Christian Ministry at 824-5896.

NORWAY – The First Universalist Church of Norway (Unitarian Universalist) will hold its Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday, April 20, at the Perham farm on Perham Road, West Paris. A worship service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church.

The Rev. Joy D. Gasta’s sermon is titled “Where is the Road to Emmaus Today?” Child care is provided. There will be an Easter egg hunt and cookie walk immediately after the service. The coffee hour is sponsored by the church youth.

Easter celebration

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Unitarian Universalist Church on Main Street will hold its Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday, April 20, at the Perham farm on Perham Road. Breakfast follows at the church. The Rev. Joy D. Gasta’s will speak on “Where is the Road to Emmaus Today?” at the 9 a.m. service. Members are invited to bring flowers in memory of a loved one. James Burkey is the organist.

Sermon topic

PARIS – “The Burden of the Gift,” is the title of the Rev. Don Mayberry’s Easter message at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 20, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris. Families are invited to bring their children to church for the worship service since there is no Sunday school on Easter morning. Child care for younger children will be provided. Duplicate bridge

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge met April 11, with four full tables playing a Howell Movement. Mary Leahey and Rosemarie Goodwin came in first, Nancy Farmer and Richard Allen second, and tied for third were Mil Owens and Beverly Pelletier and Carol Curran and Rowena Palmer.

The group meets every at 9 a.m. Fridays at the Community Room of Town and Country Mobile Home Park off Route 26. Any bridge player is welcome whether they have ever played duplicate or not. A partner is always available. For more information call Rowena Palmer at 743-2882.
