1930 – 2003

SKOWHEGAN – Viola M. (Reid) Morrell 72, of North Anson, died Wednesday, April 16, at Cedar Ridge Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation.

She was born May 5, 1930, at the Governor King House in Kingfield, the daughter of Elmer and Lulu (Stevens) Reid. She graduated from Kingfield High School with the class of 1948, and was married June 30, 1949 in Kingfield to Raynard G. Morrell.

She was a homemaker, but had worked for Beaver Wood Products and North Anson Reel Co. in the 1950’s and in later years for S.A.D. 74 lunch program, before she lost her eyesight.

She was a long time member of the 1st Congregational Church of North Anson, a member of the Woman’s Association, the Minerva Chapter 47 Order of Eastern Star of Madison, member and past president of Maine R.L.C.A. Auxiliary, member and past president of the North Anson Woman’s Club and a trustee of the Stewart Public Library.

Her parents, an infant son, Gary Gene Morrell, sisters, Mildred Parsons and Kathleen White and a brother, Hedley Reid all died previously.

She is survived by her husband, Raynard G. Morrell of North Anson; her daughters, Emily Quint and her husband Mitchell of North Anson, Nancy Merrill of North Anson, and Kelly Schinzel of Fairfield; a son, Colby Morrell and his wife Vicky of Carmel; granddaughters, Magen Merrill of North Anson, Stacy and Jennifer Morrell of Carmel; a sister, Louise Hewey of Riverview, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
