WATERVILLE – Bates scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game and added two more in the 10th to pull out an 8-6 NESCAC baseball victory over Colby on Friday.

Charles Engasser singled and scored for the Bobcats (4-9) in both the ninth and 10th innings, while John O’Neill singled in both frames. Jeff Kowaleski had three hits for the Bobcats. John Ribas pitched the final two innings to pick up the win for the Bobcats.

Bowdoin 7, Saint Joseph’s 6

BRUNSWICK – Jon Rosenthal plated T.J. McLeod in the third inning for the winning run as Bowdoin downed Saint Joseph’s, 7-6. The Polar Bears (12-11) scored six runs in the second inning. Jesse LaCasse ripped a two-run home run in the seventh to pull the Monks (13-13) within one.

Softball

Colby 4, UMF 1

WATERVILLE — Annette Caswell earned the victory and contributed an RBI single to assist Colby to a 4-1 softball victory over the University of Maine at Farmington.

The White Mules (7-8) scored all their runs in the third inning while batting around the order. Lauren Olmsted, who earned the save by pitching the final two innings, stroked an RBI single during the rally.

Richelle Dube of Lewiston had a hit and two stolen bases for the Beavers (4-8).
