FARMINGTON – Farmington Area Local Food, an alliance promoting locally-produced food, is soliciting interest in a secondary farmers’ market to be conducted from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays in Farmington during the growing season.

The current Sandy River Farmers Market is from 10 .am. to 2 p.m. on Fridays by the Better Living Center in Farmington.

Local food producers interested in this new market time are invited to a meeting at the Farmington Town Office, upstairs conference room, at 7 p.m. Monday, April 28, to discuss the market rules and organization.

Facilitators of the new market hope it will result in greater opportunities for vendors and shoppers, resulting in more visibility and attention being brought to Franklin County’s agricultural economy.

The additional time may be more convenient to people with daytime employment, and may attract vendors whose schedules are more compatible with this time.

Interested growers and food producers are asked to contact Local Food at 779-0635 or e-mail [email protected], or just come to the meeting. The same contact information applies for anyone wishing to join the Local Food campaign and help think of ways to increase local agriculture and food production.
