LEWISTON – The labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. Unlike a maze with its dead ends, the labyrinth is a winding, yet defined path that always leads to the center.

“Labyrinth: Walking an Ancient Pathway,” offered by Lewiston Adult Education, is an introduction to the labyrinth as a spiritual tool, a companion on the healing path, enabling a deeper self-knowledge. Participants will either have the experience of walking a labyrinth (depending on availability) or using finger labyrinths provided by the presenter.

The class will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. for two weeks beginning Monday, May 5, at Lewiston High School. The facilitator will be Cynthia McCormack.

The cost is $10 for Lewiston residents, $15 for non-residents. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call Lewiston Adult Education at 795-4141. A listing of current classes is available at http://www.lewiston.k12.me.us/~laeweb.
