What is a champion?

According to Webster’s new Twentieth Century Dictionary (1997), a champion is “one who comes forward in defense of another or for a cause; one who defends or maintains; a protector or vindicator. A vigilant fighter.”

Like it or not, I believe the United States of America is ordained by a force greater than us and, as a free nation, to be the champions of the world. The men and women of our military are the valiant “fighters” who choose to put themselves in harm’s way to free oppressed nations and help create a new world order without becoming aggressors.

I’m proud to be an American and stand ready to serve and protect our neighbors along with our valiant fighters. For we are the champions of the world, and I like that.
