ARLINGTON, Texas – Alex Rodriguez went 5-for-5 and drove in six runs as the Texas Rangers beat the New York Yankees 10-7 Sunday, giving manager Buck Showalter his first win against his former team.

Rodriguez hit a two-run double that tied it at 4 in the fourth. An inning later, his three-run double into the right-center field gap capped a five-run outburst that gave the Rangers a 9-5 lead.

With an RBI single in the seventh in his last at-bat, Rodriguez matched a career high and a Texas record with five hits. His six RBIs were one short of a career best.

Athletics 4, Indians 3

OAKLAND, Calif. – Terrence Long hit a game-winning double with two outs in the ninth inning Sunday to give the Oakland Athletics a 4-3 victory over Cleveland and a three-game sweep of the Indians.

Erubiel Durazo had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the A’s, who won their fourth straight overall and beat the Indians for the eighth consecutive time.

Jody Gerut, who made his major league debut on Saturday, had three hits for the Indians (7-18), off to their worst start since going 4-21 in 1969. The Indians have lost a season-high six straight and nine off 11.

Orioles 7, Devil Rays 4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Sidney Ponson allowed three runs over 6 2-3 innings Sunday to lead the Baltimore Orioles over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7-4.

Ponson (2-2) gave up seven hits, struck out seven and walked one. He also won at Tampa Bay on April 10, giving up three runs in seven innings of a 4-3 victory.

Deivi Cruz and Geronimo Gil had two RBIs each for Baltimore, which has won eight of 12.

Blue Jays 10, Royals 9

TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays overcame a seven-run deficit, scoring six runs in the ninth inning to beat the Kansas City Royals 10-9 Sunday as Mike MacDougal blew a save chance for the first time this season.

Toronto trailed 8-1 before scoring one run in the seventh and two in the eighth. Mike Bordick’s single tied it, and the winning run scored on an error by shortstop Angel Berroa.

Shannon Stewart’s RBI double in the seventh pulled Toronto to 8-2, and Josh Phelps’ RBI double and pinch-hitter Greg Myers’ run-scoring single made it 8-4 in the eighth.

Mariners 4, Tigers 3

SEATTLE – Freddy Garcia won for the first time since April 6, pitching the Seattle Mariners past the Detroit Tigers 4-3 Sunday.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 3-20, extending the worst start in team history.

Seattle wrapped up a 5-1 homestand and headed to Yankee Stadium to play New York in a three-game series between division leaders that starts Tuesday night.

White Sox 3, Twins 1

CHICAGO – Esteban Loaiza, the surprising early-season ace for the White Sox, won his his fifth straight start Sunday as Chicago beat the Minnesota Twins 3-1.

The right-hander, a non-roster invitee to spring training, allowed a run and six hits in seven strong innings as the White Sox took two of three in the emotional first series between the two AL Central rivals. Chicago manager Jerry Manuel was ejected in the first inning Sunday for arguing a call at first base. On Saturday night, three players were ejected, including White Sox starter Jon Garland, as the benches emptied.
