1910 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Ruth E. Wilber, 92, formerly of Madrid died Friday, April 25, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born July 28, 1910 in Oakland, the daughter of Charles H. and Edna May Galouch Brown.

She attended Oakland schools and in Feb. of 1925 married Dean E. Wilber in Phillips, who died in 1980 after 55 years together.

She worked for Forster Manufacturing, and Diamond Match in Dryden, Strong and Phillips.

She was a member of the Reads Mills Baptist Church, the Phillips Senior Citizens, the Reads Mills Sewing Circle, the Sandy River Grange, local and national, and the Pomona Grange.

She was known by all as Gram, and was known for giving to others even if it meant her going without. She enjoyed life in general, spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchlidren and great-grandchildren.

She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, crochetting, flower gardening and raising many types of dogs in their Kennel.

Survivors include two daughters, Athylie Scott and her husband Robert of Presque Isle, and Joanne James and her husband Owen of Madrid; two sons, Rodney Wilber of Madrid, Jack Wilber and his wife Audrey of Hanover, Mass., a daughter-in-law, Ruth Wilber of Hartland (wife of Bernald); 21 grandchildren, including granddaughter, Lyn Burnham Reed; 51 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband; two daughters, MyrLyn Wilber and Iris Waters; a son ,Bernald Wilber; a daughter-in-law, Violetta Wilber (wife of Rodney); two brothers, Henry and Sewell Brown; two sisters, Gladys Campbell and Arline Barker.
