1927 – 2003

TOGUS – John W. Dixon, 75, of South Paris, died Wednesday, April 30, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Born in Canton, Oct. 9, 1927, the son of Nickolas and Eva Paradie Dixon, he attended schools in Hebron.

He was a construction worker and heavy equipment operator for Owen Taylor Construction of Portland. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Jeanette M. Blake on May 1, 1976.

He was a member of the Deering Memorial United Methodist Church in South Paris. He enjoyed country music and taped music for people. He especially enjoyed bluegrass music.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette of South Paris; a daughter, Tammy Randall of Standish; a stepson, Ronald Gilliam of Earleton, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Gilliam of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Hazel Clifford of Oxford; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; a special nephew, Scott Clifford of Norway; a special niece, Debbie Clifford of Waldoboro; and special friends, Tom Robinson of Auburn and Norman DeCoteau of South Paris.
