LEWISTON – The Lewiston Adult Education class will have a Mother’s Day art show Saturday, May 10, on the walk in front of Mr. Paperback, Promenade Mall.
All work is in watercolor and the class will have work for display and for sale. The instructor is Marjorie DiRenzo. The class has intermediate and advance students.
Hours of the show are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Twin City Council
AUBURN – Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America, will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Odd Fellows Hall, Elm Street. Flying Changes
TOPSHAM – Flying Changes Center for Therapeutic Riding will host its annual open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at its facility on Route 201.
Demonstrations by special needs students will include riding, carriage driving with miniature horses, vaulting and jumping. Staff will be available to discuss the program options, including registration for summer horsemanship day camp. Children may have pony rides from 3 to 4 p.m. Individuals interested in volunteering at the center are also welcome to visit and explore opportunities.

Legion to install
AUBURN – Alden Gayton Post 31, American Legion, and Auxiliary will meet at the post home, 426 Washington St., on Monday, May 12. There will be a social hour at 5 p.m. followed by a light lunch at 6 prepared by the auxiliary.
At 7 p.m. there will be a short membership meeting followed by the installation of officers for the year 2003-2004. Austin Coleman, first district commander, will install the post officers and Kathy Page, department president, will install the auxiliary.
The new roster of officers will be commander, Lucien P. Marcoux; first vice, Joe Voisine; second vice, Frank Breton; adjutant, Stanley Brickel; chaplain, Russell Howe; sergeant-at-arms, Bob St. Pierre; finance, Robert Harrington.

LEWISTON – Nor’Easter Maine Chapter, M.I. Hummel Club, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.

TURNER – The annual meeting of the South Turner Upper Street Cemetery will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the home of Gordon Twichell. Albert Sennett, president, asks all lot owners to remove arrangements before that date so the cemetery can be prepared for Memorial Day. All those interested are invited.
Club Richelieu
LEWISTON – The local chapter of Club Richelieu International will hold its last seasonal meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Marco’s Restaurant. The club will host Regional Governor Diane Charette of Salem, Mass. All members and guests are invited.
Historian to speak

Rescheduled
AUBURN – The regular meeting of the New Auburn Senior Citizens has been postponed from May 7 to May 14. A Chinese chop suey lunch will be served and bingo will follow the meeting for members only. At 1:30 p.m. bingo will be open to all seniors.
Cost is $3 for the noon dinner to be held at St. Louis Church basement. Tickets for the June dinner must be purchased by June 11. Cost is $3 a person, members only.
Memorial service
AUBURN – The Androscoggin Valley Past Noble Grands Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Odd Fellows Hall, 50 Elm St. A memorial service will be held with the program led by Debbie Smith and Margaret Sjostrom.
A potluck supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. Committee members are Lucille Nelson, Beulah Allen and Mercena Abrams.

Garden angels
PORTLAND – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Cumberland County will offer the Garden Angel Project again this season. The project pairs able-bodied gardeners with senior or people with disabilities or limited means who need help establishing or maintaining small vegetable gardens for their personal use.
There is no charge. Participants are paired with gardening assistants on the basis of geographic location, physical ability, gardening skills and site requirements.
