HARRISON – Selectmen said Tuesday that they would lend their support to efforts to rename a bridge between Harrison and Otisfield in memory of Kerry Grover.

Grover, who lived on the Otisfield side of the bridge, died in a house fire last winter.

The bridge is in Bolsters Mills village and crosses the Crooked River that separates Harrison in Cumberland County and Otisfield in Oxford County.

The group seeking to honor Grover gathered 130 signatures on a petition to rename the bridge.

Town Manager Michael Thorne said the group realizes that the bridge supports a state road and that the bridge cannot be renamed locally.

“The group is looking for support from the two towns so it can go to the state representative for support,” Thorne said.
