LEWISTON – Geiger, a promotional products distributor, recently presented its President’s Awards for 2003, the company’s highest recognition for employees.
This year, four President’s Awards were presented at Geiger’s annual “state of the company” meeting. The recipients are Ed Greenwood, corporate graphics manager; Pamela Grimshaw, staff accountant; Nancy Lavoie, employee relations specialist; and Jerry Waite, electro/mechanical technician.
Greenwood, corporate graphics manager in Geiger’s Manufactured Products Division, earned his award for his community service accomplishments. Since the inception of the Geiger-Montello Adopt-a-School Partnership 15 years ago, Greenwood has been an active and involved volunteer.
Grimshaw, staff accountant for CMP Finance in Geiger’s Special Markets Division, was recognized for her process improvement achievements in account and cash reconciliation. Not only did she clean up one of the most poorly maintained general ledgers in the company, Grimshaw made it one of the most accurate and up-to-date ones, the company spokesman said.
Lavoie, employee relations specialist for Geiger’s Corporate Human Resources Department, also was recognized for process improvement for spearheading the implementation of Geiger’s new human resource and payroll systems.
Waite, an electro/mechanical technician in the Engineering Services Department of Geiger’s Manufactured Products Division, received his President’s Award for his process improvement efforts. Waite found some very creative and cost-effective ways to save the company money by using scrap materials, the spokesman said. He saved Geiger more than $20,000 in parts by using scrap material, say company officials.
The President’s Awards are given in five classifications of accomplishment: business achievement, community service, customer satisfaction, leadership and process improvement. The awards are based on the set of corporate values, known as the Geiger Way.
