AUBURN – Tri County Health Services will mark two special events in May – Mother’s Day and National Women’s Health Week – with a special promotion during the month.

Tri County is urging people to give their mom the gift of health by taking part in the “Celebrate Mom” event. Community members can call Tri County and register themselves and their mom for the promotion. Every registered mother, if she has not been to Tri County in the past two years, who comes in for an appointment during May will get a special gift. The son or daughter who registered their mom will get a gift too.

According to Sara Hayes, clinical director, the idea for a “Celebrate Mom” promotion grew out of the experience of practitioners at Tri County. “We see lots of young people in our facilities, often brought in by their moms. But our experience shows that many women stop getting regular check-ups as they reach midlife.” Because regular health care is important for all stages of a woman’s life, Tri County Health Services is encouraging younger people to talk with their mothers about health care issues.

“It’s time for the younger folks to bring their moms in so they can get the health care they deserve,” says Hayes. “Mothers often spend so much time taking care of others in their life, they don’t feel they have the time to take care of themselves. We are hoping this promotion will inspire women to take a few minutes just for themselves, to get a check up. I know women don’t exactly look forward to these exams but they do look forward to the peace of mind that comes when they hear ‘everything’s just fine’.”
