AUBURN – Cathy McKinney scored on a sacrifice fly by Krista Witherspoon in the first inning to lift Edward Little to a 1-0 win over South Portland in an SMAA matchup.
McKinney had reached on a double, then raced home for the game-winner. Brittany Short allowed just six hits while earning the win for the Red Eddies (4-3).Susan Flynn went the distance for South Portland (5-3) and took the loss, allowing four hits and the fatal run in the first.
Leavitt 14, Mt. Ararat 0
TURNER – Gretchen Conn plated two runs with a first-inning double and Sam St. Hilaire struck out 10 as Leavitt (9-0) cruised to a 14-0 KVAC high school softball win over Mt. Ararat (0-9) Wednesday.
For St. Hilaire, it was her seventh shutout of the season and she helped her own cause with a triple.
Dirigo 9, Hall-Dale 3
DIXFIELD – Angie Fenstermacher and Kayleigh Daley homered as Dirigo powered past Hall-Dale, 9-3, in high school softball action Wednesday. Jessica Blaisdell’s two-run single in the fourth inning helped break open a close game. Fenstermacher also earned the win on the mound throwing a complete game.
Mt. Abram 12,
Mountain Valley 3
SALEM – Lanie Roy smashed a home run in the sixth inning to lead Mt. Abram to a 12-3 romp over Mountain Valley in WMC softball action.
Sadie White chipped in with three doubles for Mt. Abram (2-5), while Ashley Delassandro two doubles. Megan Buxton allowed just five hits while posting her second win. Kelly Nichols led the offensive effort for the Falcons (1-4) with a double, while Karen Arsenault contributed a pair of singles. Nichols also threw seven innings and took the loss.
Lisbon 14, Boothbay 10
LISBON – Soliel Mathieu and Crystal Doughty tallied RBI doubles Wednesday to lead Lisbon to a 14-10 victory over Boothbay. Doughty also picked up the win after allowing 15 hits in seven innings. Mathieu and Nikki Porter also contributed doubles for the Greyhounds (1-4).
Mindy Heaberlin and Alicia Brown led the offensive effort for the Seahawks (0-5) with doubles, while Aimee Wilcox took her fourth loss of the season.
