NORWAY – Lesley Dean says she has a little bit of everything to do for anybody who shows up Saturday morning for the Main Street Cleanup Day.

The Norway Business Association president says there’s plenty of trash to pick up, windows to be washed and other general work.

“Bring a rake,” she advises. “And bring your gloves.”

She said there are two big projects: one behind Grassroots Graphics and the other on either side of Crockett Ridge Road.

Dean said the plan is to clean out a private parking area behind the graphics company and then employees will be encouraged to park there.

She said that would open more parking spaces that are “visible to Main Street.”

The other big target is by the lake on either side of Crockett Ridge Road.

“That area needs a lot of cleaning up,” Dean said. “Plus it’s wet in there, so we’re going to have to use rubber boots.”

She said once a year the inside and outside of the windows in the Oddfellows building and Opera House, both empty, are washed.

However, she said washing the outside will be done after the dust settles from the planned construction of Department of Transportation on Main Street.

“We have plenty of smaller targets that need cleaning like the Penn Stream, Bird Brook, Witherell Park and bunches of others,” Dean said.

Dean said cleanup volunteers would be gathering at 8 a.m. at Beal’s Tavern Parking lot, right next to Pike’s on 339 Main St..

“We’re only going to work until noon,” Dean said.
