1919 – 2003
AUBURN – Priscilla Breed Roewer, of 8 Cushman Place, died at home on Saturday, May 10, after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born in Arlington, Massachusetts on July 3, 1919, the daughter of Edgar and Gertrude (Sauer) Breed. She was an 11th lineal descendant of Alan Breed, who landed in Salem, Mass., in 1630. She was a graduate of Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. While in school there, she managed the large dining room in Richter Hall for three years. She married Louis Prang Roewer on Aug. 26, 1942. She was a 50-year member of the Martindale Country Club and also a member of the Women’s Hospital Association. She loved to play bridge. She was also a sponsor of Auburn Public Library building fund. She was a wonderful mother and loving wife. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years; a son, Philip of Gorham; three daughters, Peggy of Auburn, and Jenny and Andrea, both of Old Orchard Beach; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her very special niece, Priscilla, her namesake. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Edgar Jr., who lost his life in World War II, and Dr. Fred Breed; and her beloved sister, Ruth.
