SPRINGFIELD, Mass – Lori Naumann scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to give top-seeded Springfield College a 3-2 win over the University of Southern Maine in the first round of the ECAC double elimination Division III New England Softball Championship.
Bauman singled with one out in the seventh, advanced to third on a double by Brianne Pearson, and scored the winning run on a passed ball.
Jordan Gatcomb had given the Huskies the lead in the sixth inning with a solo home run.
The Pride tied it in their half of the sixth inning setting the stage for Baumann’s heroics.
Melissa Henderson took the loss for the Huskies.
Game two of the tournament saw the Huskies again fall to the United States Coast Guard Academy 3-2.
Sarah McLean doubled in the top of the first inning driving in Kristen Tong giving the Huskies the early lead.
Coast Guard tied the game in the second inning and took the lead for good in the third inning scoring a pair of runs.
Jen Paulsen kept the Huskie batters at bay allowing seven hits, two walks while fanning five to record the win.

Huskies Eliminated
MANSFIELD, Conn-Tom Jachimczyk stroked a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie as the University of Massachusets Dartmouth eliminated the University of Southern Maine 6-5 in Little East Conference Tournament action Saturday afternoon.
Robert Delduca opened the seventh inning with a single, then stole second and raced home with the game-winning run when Jachimczyk singled down the left field line.
Colin Loveless paced the Huskies attack going 4-for-4, while Adam Lemieux added three safeties in the loss.
Brandon Perry picked up the win in relief of Kyle Darrow in the seventh inning allowing two hits while striking out three over the final two innings.Ryan Adams took the loss.
Maine splits pair
with Stony Brook
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The first baseman Pat Tobin crushed two home runs to salvage the second game of a doubleheader as the University of Maine split with Stony Brook, 6-8 and 9-5, in baseball action Saturday.
Greg Creek went 2-for-3 in the opener, plating two runs on a first inning single and another pair with a third inning round-tripper. The Black Bears (33-14) eventually squandered the 6-0 lead they enjoyed going into the bottom of the third inning.
The Seawolves (26-17) picked away at the lead with a run in the third and a pair of runs in each of the last three innings. Jim McCurdy sent the game into extra innings with a pinch-hit single that scored Kevin Solano.
Garrett Renner cracked a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to notch the win for Stony Brook.
The Black Bears exploded for five runs in the sixth inning of the night cap to make for a soft landing. With the first two batters having reached, Tobin launched his first of two home runs in the game to clear the bases.
Creek later singled to right field to plate another pair of runs for a superb day.
The Seawolves rallied for three runs in the seventh, but couldn’t make up the deficit.
