FARMINGDALE – Josh Armandi was overpowering, striking out 16 batters and giving up only one hit to lead Jay to a 7-0 MVC win over previously undefeated Hall-Dale.
Shawn Jacques hit a three-run double in the fourth inning for the Tigers (7-3), while Ryan DiPompo had two hits and three stolen bases.
Steve Vellani broke up the no-hitter in the sixth inning for the Bulldogs (8-1).
Richmond 1, Rangeley 0
RANGELEY – Neil Stewart of Rangeley pitched a no-hitter but lost to Richmond 1-0 Tuesday in an EWC baseball game shortened to five innings due to wet conditions.
Richmond (8-2) scored its run in the third inning when Rob King walked, stole a base and later scored on a fielder’s choice.
Stewart struck out seven. At the plate, he led the charge with a double. Tyler Philbrick provided the only other hit for the Lakers with a single.
Steve Brown picked up the pitching win.
Westbrook 3, Lewiston 0
WESTBROOK – Dustin Longchamps had a one-hitter going into the sixth inning, but Westbrook scored three runs with a pair of cluth hits to escape with a 3-0 victory over Lewiston.
Ben Cutter fired a one-hitter and struck out 11 batters en route to the Blue Blazes (3-9) win.
Dan Ronco hit an RBI single and Chris Peterson added a two-run single in the sixth to cement the Westbrook win.
Dave Labonte had the Devils’ (0-12) lone hit in the third inning.
Lacrosse
Mt. Blue 14, Mt. Ararat 2
FARMINGTON – Nate Bolduc netted three goals and recorded one assist as Mt. Blue dominated with a 14-2 win over Mt. Ararat on Tuesday afternoon.
Tom Cook had two goals and three assists, while Buzzy Cyr added another three goals for the Cougars (7-2) win. Ben Sinclair, Garrett Lake, and Luke Ferreira each chipped in with two goals apiece for the win as well.
Alex Bernier and Rob Petre each scored a goal apiece for Mt. Ararat (5-5).
Freeman Scott had nine saves in the net for Mt. Blue.
, while Billy Donovan stopped five shots for the Eagles.
