ROCKLAND – Wade Oliver belted out an RBI double in the first inning to plate Mike Curtis and lift Rockland to a 1-0 victory over Oak Hill.

Adam Ross scattered two hits for the Tigers (10-5) while earning the win.

Mike Daggett struck out five batters for the Raiders (12-3) and took the loss.

Cheverus 5, Edward Little 2

PORTLAND – Billy McCandless’ RBI single keyed a three-run first inning as Cheverus ralied past Edward Little 5-2 Thursday.

Kyle Kipikas pitched five innings for the Stags (9-7), scattering eight hits while earning the win.

Rory Flynn led the Red Eddies (4-12) with two doubles, while Nick Lawler and Jamie Martel tallied one double apiece. Randy Morin smashed a triple for Edward Little.

Rangeley sweeps Averill

RANGELEY – Neil Stewart Jr. struck out three consecutive batters to escape a bases-loaded jam in the seventh innng and preserve the sweep as Rangeley posted 11-6 and 5-3 victories over Averill in baseball action Thursday.

The Lakers (4-9) pocketed five runs in the second inning of the opener on three of Averill’s six errors. Tyler Philbrick poked a double and had a pair of RBIs, while Tim Johnson rifled a triple and earned his first mound win of the season.

Rangeley picked up a run in every inning of the nightcap except the fifth. Philbrick notched a pair of singles for two RBIs, and Johnson also had a pair of singles in the effort. The Beavers enjoyed the only extra base hit of the game from the bat of Joe Lamoine.

Lacrosse

Lewiston 8, Bonny Eagle 1

LEWISTON – Ben Fournier and Adam Toutain netted two goals apiece to pace Lewiston to a 8-1 rout over Bonny Eagle in an SMAA regular season lacrosse finale Thursday.

Tony Travaligni, Nate Strout, Aaron Daly and Sean Boulanger tallied single goals for the Blue Devils (11-1). Billy Brooks needed only seven saves to record the win.

Dan Morgan scored the lone goal for the Scots (3-9), while Billy Ham made 16 saves in front of the net.
