MEXICO – Selectmen will discuss a variety of issues Wednesday ranging from town meeting matters to plans for a memorial plaque for a deceased firefighter. They also will enter into three closed sessions.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the town office.

Agenda items include action on the SAD 43 budget warrant and the annual town meeting warrant, discussion of possible municipal participation in the River Valley Business Expo, and a decision on establishing a memorial plaque for former firefighter Harding Wentzell. Discussion will also be held on all-terrain vehicle registration fees.

The first vote on the SAD 43 budget comes June 5. The annual town meeting is set for June 9. In a town meeting related issue selectmen will act on two petitions for inclusion of items in the town meeting warrant concerning funding for several social service organizations and for the town’s snowmobile club.

The meeting will begin with several public hearings on hawker’s and peddler’s, victualer’s and liquor license applications. Following the public meeting, closed sessions will be held on the town manager’s job proposal, highway and police departments union contracts and a Police Department legal matter.
