PALERMO (AP) – A Waterville man was killed Thursday night in a single-car accident that police say was alcohol-related.

Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said Eric Osnoe, 21, was killed when the Jeep in which he was riding drove off of Hostile Valley Road around 10:45 p.m., struck a utility pole and rolled onto its roof.

McCausland said the driver of the car, Michael Dow, 21, of South China, suffered multiple injuries and was taken by helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

He said Travis Gerow, 19, of Clinton, was thrown from the vehicle and taken to a Waterville hospital with injuries.

McCausland said the three had been drinking at a nearby party.

“The residents of the party tried to convince them to not drive off, but they did anyway,” McCausland said.

Police said charges may be forthcoming against Dow.
