1924 – 2003

RUMFORD – L. Arthur Comeau, 79, of Cundy’s Harbor and Rumford, passed away on Tuesday, May 27 at his home.

Born in Dixfield on Jan. 16, 1924, he was the son of Leo and Hilda (Willoughby) Comeau.

Arthur was a heavy equipment operator, working in road construction and recently working for Harry C. Crooker and Sons.

He enjoyed fishing and boating and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed his many years in Cundy’s Harbor. Arthur spent the last five months at Sandy River Rehabilitation Center in Farmington, where he received excellent care and enjoyed the nursing staff very much.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Gallant) Comeau; three children, Randall Comeau and his wife, Sue of Northglen, Colo., Ritchie Comeau of Rumford and Deborah Swett and her husband, Clayton of Carthage; one brother, Richard Comeau of Rumford; two sisters, Edna Mace of Wilton and Mildred Wood of Farmington; a stepfather, Stanley Jonaitis of South Paris; three half brothers, William of Rumford, Donald of Hollis Center and Allan of Saco; and a half sister, Teresa Brown of Saco.

In addition to his parents, Arthur is predeceased by his stepmother, Olive Comeau.
