1909 – 2003

NORWAY – Marguerite G. Colby, 93, of Oxford, died Thursday, May 29, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Born in Casco, July 16, 1909, the daughter of Richard and Grace Strout Gay, she graduated from South Paris High School and the Gorham Normal School.

She taught school for five years, worked for H&R Block for several years and had been a homemaker. She was active with the 4-H Club and the Oxford County Fair. She married Edgar E. Colby on Dec. 25, 1930, and he passed away in 1975.

Survivors include a son, Raymond and his wife, Marilyn of Oxford; two daughters, Verna Meserve and Janice Thayer and her husband, Edwin, all of Oxford; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Virginia Brown of South Paris and Judith Truman of Waterford.

She was predeceased by a son, Floyd Colby and three brothers, Solomon Gay, Clayton Gay and Arlington Gay.
