The Lakes Environmental Association in Bridgton invites the public to a series of hikes and nature related programs throughout the year. A sampling follows:

• Monday, June 9 and 16, Holt Pond Hike, 1 p.m.

• Saturday, June 14, Stevens Brook Clean-Up, 9 a.m.

• Thursday, June 19, “Sustainable Logging – Managing Your Woodlot for Profit and Future,” 7 p.m.

• Tuesday, June 24, and Thursday, June 26, Holt Pond Hike, 9 a.m.

• Wednesday, June 25, Living Green in Lakes Region, 7 p.m.

• Saturday, June 28, Holt Pond Kayak Trip, 8 a.m.

• Monday, June 30, “Exploring the Wilds of Bridgton,” 9 a.m.

In July, hikes are planned for Holt Pond, Naples, Bald Pate Mountain and Stevens Brook. Evening programs will include shoreland zoning, and Chewonki presentations of live owls and live predators.

In August, Chewonki will present evening programs about live bats and birds of prey. Daytime hikes will start at 9 a.m. and go to Bald Pate and Holt pond.

Garden program

PARIS – The McLaughlin Foundation Garden and Horticultural Center will offer a program on azaleas, rhododendrons and roses from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at 97 Main St., South Paris. For more information or a reservation phone 743-8820.

Jazz in the Street

PARIS – Jazz in the Street will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 6, on the lawn at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. For more information phone 743-8914.

Benefit supper

OXFORD – A benefit supper will be held for Chuck and Ginger Pearl at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Grace Fellowship Church. The menu will offer meatloaf, mashed potato, carrots, peas, biscuits and pies. Adults, $6; children age 12 and under, $3. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Chuck was injured in a tractor accident, and Ginger is currently having medical tests.
