WILTON – The Western Mountains Renaissance Program provides a six-week summer recreation/treatment program designed for youth with special emotional or mental needs who have difficulty in a regular camp setting.

The program will allow children to participate in a broad range of activities including swimming, sports, field trips and crafts, all under the supervision of qualified mental health professionals.

The mental health team operates under the supervision of child psychiatrist Dr. Lourdes Soto-Moreno and includes therapists and behavior technicians who are experienced in working with children with special needs. The program includes intensive treatment in the development of social skills, behavior modification and confidence building.

The program will accept applications for children ages 7-15 years of age with appropriate referrals from their school or mental health provider.

Youth are accepted based upon need and mix of children.

Self Pay, Medicaid and insurance is accepted. Deadline for applications is June 18 and some scholarships may be available.

The program will take place June 30 through Aug. 7. For additional information, please phone Julie Welch at the Western Mountains Renaissance School at 645-4338.
