TURNER – Roland W. Smith, 74, a resident of Wayne, died very unexpectedly Monday, June 2, in Turner.
Born in Monmouth Feb. 4, 1929, the son of George Clinton and Dorothy Frost Smith, he attended Monmouth Academy.
In 1965 he married the former Allene Brown in Winthrop. Roland worked as a dairy farmer and woodsman. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of Wayne; two daughters, Brenda and her husband, Laurence Ringrose, of Augusta and Laurie A. Smith of Laramie, Wyo.; a son, Darrell B. Smith and his wife, Amy, of Milford; three grandchildren, Maria G. Smith, Megan E. Ringrose and Garrett N. Smith; three brothers, Kenneth of Greene, Ralph of Kittery and Raymond of Leeds; and four sisters, Constance Buckley of Leeds, Frances McCabe of Monmouth, Alberta Tapley of Kittery and Amber McCabe of Monmouth.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Robert, Milton, Fred and Roger Smith.
