BETHEL – A $5 increase per ton in shared municipal solid waste disposal and recycling costs for Bethel, Hanover and Newry sparked a significant increase.

Voters at town meeting on Wednesday, June 11, will notice that warrant Article 18 seeks to raise $372,740 for the fiscal year 2004 solid waste management account. That amount, which includes Hanover’s and Newry’s shares, represents a $27,650 increase, Town Manager Scott Cole said.

Of that $372,740, Bethel’s share is $226,599 while Hanover must pay $22,462 and Newry’s share is $123,680.
