PITTSFIELD – Doug Smith of Sidney, a superintendent for Cianbro Corp., was recently honored for 25 years of service.
Formerly of the Lewiston-Auburn area, Smith started out as a pipe fitter, helping to pioneer the company’s move into the heavy industrial construction market, building Cianbro’s strong reputation in the pulp and paper industry.
“Doug has worked in a supervisory capacity in most every paper mill in this state,” said Cianbro President and Chief Executive Officer Pete Vigue. “He is well respected by his peers, and has made a great contribution to the success of this company.”
Vice President and General Manager Frank Susi said, “Doug is a very family oriented man. He thinks enough of Cianbro, that his son, Tharryn Smith, is also a member of our team. Tharryn is a project engineer headquartered out of Ricker’s Wharf, our deep water marine facility in South Portland.”
“I’ve loved working for Cianbro over the years,” Doug Smith said. “I’ve had a great time, and made some wonderful friends. At one time, all five members of my family worked for Cianbro.”
