AUBURN – The Child Health Center’s preschool held its annual candle fund-raiser recently. Families of the preschool children sold candles from the American Candle Co. to raise funds for new classroom material.
Roxann Lyons, teacher assistant at the preschool who coordinated the fund-raiser, said, “We were overwhelmed when one of our participants, Zachery Viens-Morin, sold over a $1,000.”
Zachery’s mother, Denise Morin, a Lisbon resident, said, “We went out riding our bikes one day and Zachery just kept saying ‘I want to try this house.’ He did it all himself. His father, Tim, and I didn’t push him to do it, he just had fun meeting the people and asking for their support of the preschool.”
The preschool raised close to $1,000 from their share of the sales. The money will be used to purchase items for the classrooms. The preschool offers an educational environment for children ages 18 months to school age (5).
Classes are held for younger children from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday and for the older children from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
