FARMINGTON – A portable toilet reported missing Sunday from a Fairbanks ball field turned up at the high school. It seems the hot toilet, unknown to users, had been used by people attending the Mount Blue High School graduation.

Two Farmington police officers discussing the missing toilet realized Monday where it went.

Farmington police Lt. Jack Peck said he was telling police officer Shane Campbell, who covered graduation, about the portable toilet that was stolen from the Little League ball field off Route 4.

Peck said Campbell told him SAD 9 custodians found a toilet on school grounds and believed administrators had leased it for graduation.

The toilet had been dumped on it’s side on the school grounds, Peck said.

Custodians stood the Port-A-Potty upright and moved it near the Music Boosters booth, and people used it during graduation, Peck said.

Peck said he called the company, G.A. Downing Co. in Minot, and learned that portable toilets have serial numbers.

He sent Campbell up to check the numbers, and it turned out the toilet at the school was the missing toilet.

Members of the Fairbanks Baseball Association would have been responsible for the toilet that cost about $600, Peck said.

It was in good shape when it was found, he said.

Police are looking for the culprits who took the toilet from the field.
