TURNER – SAD 52 River Valley Adult Education and Community Education of Greene, Leeds and Turner will offer a variety of opportunities for adults and children during the summer.

Academic summer school will hold classes in English, English as a Second Language, literacy, math, biology, chemistry, American literature, U.S. history, world studies, government, health and a children’s reading program.

There will be sports camps for basketball, soccer, field hockey, gymnastics, cheering and windsurfing. Full details on the sport camps are available in the SAD 52 summer catalog.

Some of the other classes will include art camp, paper plus camp, creative drama, acting for the stage, activity days and driver education.

There will be a four-week class to learn basic computer skills using Windows 98 with instruction of how to access different programs such as Microsoft Office, word processing and the internet.

A beginning basket weaving class will teach the basics and how to make four baskets.

In a two-evening program on practical recycling, participants will find out what they can “usefully” do with common household recyclables. They will also learn economic homemade alternatives to some of the things they buy.

Join a six-week tole painting for beginners class to find out how to prepare and finish pieces and learn how to paint like a pro.
