AUBURN – Colin Britt, a member of the class of 2003 at Edward Little High School, has been awarded the Eastman Scholarship by Community Little Theatre.
The group established the scholarship in honor and memory of Roger and Gertrude Eastman, who were among the founding members of Little Theatre in the 1940s. Eastman was a past president of CLT. The Eastman family has long been active in CLT and their children and grandchildren, the Feeleys, remain so today.
Britt has been a participant in CLT activities from the time he was in elementary school. He is the music director for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and will be music director for the August production of “Annie.”
Britt has a long resume in performing arts and was selected by the scholarship committee for his qualifications. Although he enjoys being onstage, he has discovered his real passions are writing and conducting music.
One of Britt’s original orchestral compositions, “One Day in September,” was premiered recently at the Olin Arts Center, Bates College. CLT will sponsor a premiere showing of “Billionaire Vegans,” a two-act musical that Britt and his mother, Linda Britt, have worked on for the past six years.
Britt composed the music and is musical director of the production. Linda wrote the book and lyrics and is the director. The show will be performed one night only, June 28, at 8 pm. at CLT on Academy Street. Proceeds will benefit the newly established CLT Endowment Fund. General admission seating is $5.
Britt’s family has long been active in CLT’s activities. His parents are Linda Britt and Dennis Browne. He has a sister, Sydney Browne, who is in the cast of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”Britt will attend the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in Connecticut in the fall.
