LEWISTON – Recently the Maine Credit Union League honored Great Falls Federal Credit Union as the first place recipient of the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility and second place for the Louise Herring Philosophy In Action Award.

These awards are given to credit unions commending them for their commitment to their community and to their membership. The Dora Maxwell Award recognizes credit unions for their outstanding example of credit union philosophy of “people helping people” in their community. The Louis Herring Award for Social Responsibility recognizes credit unions for educational programs offered to their membership.

Great Falls Credit Union supports many community projects including the Festival de Joie, the Relay for Life, the Special Olympics, Ending Hunger, the Franco American Heritage Center and the Alzheimer’s Walk. It also is an adopt-a-school partner with Sherwood Heights Elementary School and St. Dom’s Regional High School of Auburn.
