1929 – 2003

RUMFORD – Dorothy J. Arsenault, wife of the late Joseph Alfred Arsenault Sr., passed away Saturday, June 14, at the Rumford Community Hospital due to a sudden illness.

She was born in Manchester, N.H., June 14, 1929, a daughter of Albert A. and Helen E. Zdon LeBlond.

She graduated in 1947 from the St. Joseph’s High School for Women in Manchester, N.H.

On Oct. 24, 1953 she married her beloved husband Joseph. They shared 41 years together until his passing on Aug. 30, 1994.

Dorothy was a member of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church in Rumford. She belonged to the Wednesday Morning Craft Club and served as secretary to the East Andover Community Club, both of which she was a member for 13 years. She had a special talent for making crafts. Other hobbies included gardening, playing cards and watching birds.

She was able to travel extensively within the United States and Spain with her family as her husband pursued his miltary career. Later on in her life, she cherished the time she could spend with her family, especially the grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Dept. of Agriculture Administrative Assistant III, Deborah Atkinson of Glendale, Ariz.; two sons, Retired Gunnery Sergeant Joseph A. Arsenault Jr. of Farmington, and Special Agent, Department of Defense, Jeffrey L. Arsenault of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia Bournival of Manchester, N.H.
