BETHEL – At the 7 p.m. meeting Monday, June 16, the Board of Selectmen is scheduled to set a date and time to oversee the town clerk’s recount of the ambulance barn referendum vote.

Thanks to a 314-314 vote on Tuesday night’s Municipal Referendum Question 2 ballot and Bethel Rescue Director Arlene Greenleaf’s subsequent submission of the required 64 signatures for a recount, Clerk Christen Mason must recount the votes.

Question 2 asked voters to approve the design, construction and equipping of the town’s ambulance station to improve existing facilities by borrowing up to $150,000. It was defeated by the tie vote.

A recount in Bethel can only be done if the applicant files with the town, signatures from 10 percent of the people who were checked off on the voter registration list.

According to Tuesday night’s balloting, that’s 64 people, Mason said.

Other agenda items for the board’s Monday night meeting in the town office include:

• A request from Karen Paul to amend the Shoreland Zoning Map.

• A discussion of the Employee Benefits Program, regarding the Cafeteria Plan and Maine State Retirement System.

• Amending the Chosun Liquor License Approval with a description of authorized premises.

• A declaration of official intent to finance the Clark Street Sewer Main Replacement project.

• Executing a quit claim deed in exchange for payment of back taxes and deed actions concerning the Chapman property of lots 9 and 12-1 on map 16.

• Discussion of the formation of the town meeting voter-approved Ordinance Review Committee and the disposition of tax-acquired properties.

• An update on the Paradise Road Sewer Project.
