FREEPORT – The Maine Innkeepers Association, a leading provider of information and support to the lodging and tourism industry of Maine, announced it has welcomed 40 new members during its drive that ends this month.

On June 2, more than 20 volunteers gathered at the Hampton Inn for the telethon. The volunteers were current members, who shared their experiences and the benefits of membership, with the prospective members. They talked about the networking opportunities, educational seminars, the Web site, the Maine Innkeepers Association Official Lodging Guide (2003 was released in May), the marketing opportunities, and legislative advocacy such as reduced credit card processing rates and aggregated electric rates.

For members who join during the month of June there are additional perks such as: 18 months membership for the annual rate; free listing on the MEIA Web site (www.maineinns.com) including a link to the member’s Web site; free registration at the annual meeting and conference in November; free listing in the 2004 Official Maine Lodging guide (100,000 copies are sent out); and one free MEIA educational seminar.

For more information on the association or to become a member, phone the association at (207) 865-6100 or visit the Web site at www.maineinns.com/members.
